Solomon’s Responses to Adonijah, Joab, and Shimei

19 Bathsheba came to King Solomon to speak to him concerning Adonijah, and the king got up to meet her, bowed down to her, and then sat on his throne. Then he set up a throne for the king’s mother, and she sat on his right. 20 She said, “I have one small request I am asking from you. Do not refuse me.”[a] The king said to her, “Ask, my mother, for I will not refuse you.”[b] 21 Then she said, “Let Abishag the Shunnamite be given to Adonijah your brother as wife.”
